1. Is the MIPS payment penalty applied on a per Medicare Part B claim basis?

  1. The positive or negative payment adjustment is applied on a per Medicare Part B fee-for-service (FFS) claims basis in the adjustment year. The QPP is an annual program, and each calendar year is referred to as a performance year which affects your Medicare Part B FFS payments two years later in the payment adjustment year. For example, your performance in 2023 will be used to determine your Medicare Part B FFS payments in the 2025 payment adjustment year.
